I solved it in 5 minutes with $2 in materials. Took 400 grit sandpaper and sanded the contacts (both sides, bonnet and base) clean. Then applied dielectric grease (not 100% necessary but should help in the long run, available at any autoparts store as light bulb grease). Easy and effective.
